Inspired by the classic recording consoles of 1970's America is the Pop Top Boost from Milkman Sound.

The Pop Top is a discretely designed Op Amp that has huge amounts of head room with an internal power supply that converts 9v to 36v, 30db clean boost capabilities, subtle detail preamp enhancement, will run at 'unity gain', and has been designed to inspire some of the same magic and creativity of the 1970s discrete op amps from the world of classic record production but in a much more guitar friendly package.

This is a 'used' pedal, in our Grade 4 excellent condition, with very minor signs of use, but doesn't come with the original box, candy or manual.

What Do Milkman Sound Say?

The new Pop Top Boost from Milkman Sound takes its inspiration from the classic American recording consoles of the 1970s. We designed a discrete Op Amp which fits the standard 2520 footprint and put it into a modern pedal enclosure for use with guitar or any other instrument that uses 1/4” phone connectors.

The Pop Top takes power from a common 9V center negative pedal power supply and converts it to 36V of internal headroom (that’s more than a tube has!). This unusually large amount of headroom has many practical uses ranging from a 30dB clean signal boost, a unity gain buffer with midrange focusing detail, or a line driver.

We designed the Pop Top to run at “unity gain” with the control set at zero. At unity you can hear the discrete op amp color and find a sweet spot without dropping any signal. There is enough headroom inside to use the Pop Top at the very end of a pedal chain even in tandem with other gain and boost pedals.

As a preamp, the Pop Top can enhance the subtle details of the source in the same way that a microphone preamp in a classic American recording console would. In the 1970s discrete op amps were designed to be used at the input and output stage to both preserve detail and slam magnetic tape with as much signal as was necessary to capture the sound. The Pop Top is designed to inspire some of that same magic and creativity from the world of classic record production but in a much more guitar friendly package.

Amazing Reverb Pedal - Love it!

One of the standout features of the Fathom is its four different reverb modes: Hall, Plate, Lo-fi, and Sonar. Each mode has its own unique character, allowing you to tailor your sound to fit any musical genre or mood. The Hall setting provides a rich and spacious reverb, perfect for creating an ambient atmosphere. The Plate mode offers a brighter and more pronounced reverb, ideal for adding a touch of sparkle to your sound. The Lo-fi mode is particularly interesting, as it adds a bit of grit and texture to the reverb, giving it a vintage feel. Lastly, the Sonar mode introduces a subtle modulation to the reverb, which adds a sense of movement and depth to your sound.

The Fathom also features a sustain switch, which allows you to hold and sustain the reverb effect for as long as you like. This is perfect for creating long, dreamy soundscapes or for adding an extra layer of depth to your playing. Additionally, the pedal has a mix knob, which lets you blend the reverb effect with your dry signal, as well as a decay knob, which controls the length of the reverb tail.

In terms of sound quality, the Fathom delivers a pristine and natural reverb that can enhance any playing style. Whether you're looking to add a subtle touch of reverb to your clean tones or create a massive wall of ambient sound, the Fathom has you covered. I found that it performed exceptionally well in both live and studio settings, making it a versatile addition to any musician's toolkit.

After only ever using the reverb setting on my amp, this felt like a step up in the reverb game. Love it. Bought this 2nd hand from Pedal Jungle and other than not having the original box (this was declared at the point of purchase) it looks to be as new! As always Pedal Jungle are an absolute delight to deal with. Thank you again.

Thanks once again Jon, and thanks also for the great review mate. Paul

Hizumatis Fuzz

Pedal Jungle deliver another winner with this EQD Hizumatis, from their used collection. Very happy with the service and description on the second hand side of things. If I hadn’t of been told I would have sworn it were brand new. Now onto the pedal itself. If you’re a fan of all things Fuzz this pedal is a must have for your collection. You can strum out chords with this one without it sounding like a complete mess and it’s exceptionally good with those doom/stoner rock tones. It can be massive in sound and tones or if you wish it to be, it can be dialed down for a more suitable fuzz effect.

Much obliged sir for your continued custom and support of our small business. Glad the Hizumatis delivers for you. Enjoy! Paul
