The Donut Hole Overdrive is a bluesbreaker type overdrive - from light sparkle to a great sounding overdrive, this pedal is well made and does what it should. It will clean up if you back off your volume knob, and stays transparent throughout the range of settings.
I personally love it as an always on "sparkle" - it's a definitely a permanent addition, and has actually replaced a compressor and another overdrive on my board.
Whether you're just starting out with pedals, or are looking for that one missing piece of the puzzle, this guide shines a light on the overlooked pedals - those "hidden gems" that can really elevate a pedalboard. It’s an easy read, with each type of pedal receiving reasons why to use it, quick tips on how to use it and reasons why it might not be a good fit.
The reasons why/quick tip sections are great knowledge for beginners and intermediate players alike. I personally found the reasons why not to use a pedal refreshing, as it’s easy to keep pedals on the pedalboard because they’ve always been there, whether they’re useful or not - a great reminder that sometimes less is more!
It’s easy to get sucked in by the flashy effects and forget about those unsung heroes that help bring it all together and complete a pedalboard.
This is a handy little reminder of those little utilities that solve those little problems and help get the best out of your gear.
This provides a comprehensive guide that explores various utility pedals that can enhance your guitar setup. The content is well-organised, with each section dedicated to a specific type of pedal, providing detailed insights into their benefits, usage tips, and potential drawbacks. One of the strengths of this document is its clear and concise explanations. The "Quick Use Tips" and "When It May Not Be Your Utility Hero" sections provide valuable information that can help both beginners and experienced guitarists make informed decisions about their pedal setups. The inclusion of specific examples and scenarios adds depth to the content, making it relatable and easy to understand. A lot of those pedals are new to me, so I have learnt about them while reading 😊
I did enjoy this, but felt it could have been longer, or gone into more detail about effects stacking in general as opposed to the quite specific examples mentioned. It consists almost entirely of interviews from boutique pedal manufacturers - while this is definitely better than just hearing about the usual suspects, of course each one is biased towards their own products. It is useful to have their perspectives, but it doesn’t quite meet the brief for anyone who doesn’t have those specific pedals - which I imagine would be most readers! I think the main takeaway is really that you have to experiment based on your own style, and preferences.
Love Greer pedals and this is no different. Pairs great with my Lightspeed. Great service from Paul and always on hand to answer questions
Just what I needed to tidy up my board. All good.

Product is just what I was after. Customer service was great as I had messed up with my email address and they were very helpful. Top marks.
Hi Scott, thanks for the purchase and review, and our pleasure to help you out with it. Thanks again, Paul
Feels more personal that buying from a more corporate company, the emails are a nice touch and a chaser email when they thought my order should have been delivered which again was a nice touch.
Hi Daniel, thanks for the purchase and review, much appreciated mate, and glad you like the personal touch we aim to offer too. Cheers, Paul
