Product Showcase: GFI System Enieqma Advanced Equalizer

Manuals at the ready for this one, as the Enieqma from GFI System offers unprecedented equalisation capabilities in a pedal format; and GFI are definitely not known for their 'one knob does all' type of pedals!

The Enieqma is yet another head turner here in the Pedal Jungle archives; an EQ pedal on steroids, and one that you will need to take a deeper dive with to really unleash it's true potential.

Henry Widjaja and his small team at GFI in Indonesia, have designed and developed the Enieqma, which is a multipurpose equalizer that packs in a hell of a lot to say the least.

It features none other than a 5-band full parametric EQ, a ‘simple EQ class' of 7 tone stacks, a 'Pulteq EQ' 3-band midrange equalizer, full stereo capabilities, EQ stacking options, limiter, up to 64 presets and up to 15db clean boost independent of the EQ, plus so much more - if all that wasn't enough!

The simple EQ class features 7 classic tone stacks; Baxandall, Tilt, Scopped Tilt, Wah and tone control of Fender, Marshall, and Vox amps, and the Pulteq EQ mode is an emulation of the classic Pultec* MEQ-5 Midrange EQ processor with 3 options of Low Peak, Mid Dip and High Peak.

The 5-band parametic EQ is similar to one you'd find on many professional mixing desks and can also be stacked as a combo dual EQ with either the Pulteq or the simple EQ options.

In all honesty I love the Enieqma, it's a very versatile and expansive tool with endless capabilities, but it's definitely not for the feint hearted, the easily overwhelmed, novice pedal players, or those looking for a just a simple 'crank it and play' style setup.

Yeah sure, you could throw this into any setup and get some great tones from it, but that would be a bit of a waste in my opinion as in essence the Enieqma has been born for a lot more than that.  To not use this EQ beast to it's full potential would be a major injustice I say!

Essentially this is a studio grade tool, with more focus driven to a 'particular set of skills' (remember that line!) and is really for those looking at expanding and fine tuning the sonic EQ landscape of their signal chain.  It's also for those looking to add some flair to their stereo setups, or to have the perfect studio tool in their arsenal; as this will really benefit any home studio setups too.

The Enieqma could be just the ticket for the situations where these particular set of skills are needed, as the wealth of options it provides you in such a robust and compact package are compared to none other.  My suggestion is to just take the time to get to know it like a best friend, and you'll get to learn what it does best in no time!

Haven't tried the Enieqma yet? I can't recommend it enough. Give it a go and discover a whole new world of sound.

We'd love to hear about your Enieqma experiences! Drop a comment below and tell us how it's transformed your setup.
