Looking to delve into the captivating world of breadboarding but unsure of where to begin? Well, let Josh Scott of JHS Pedal fame shine a light into the DIY pedal building darkness for you.
Explore Breadboarding with the 'Short Circuit' Youtube Series
Here, he showcased the awesome CopperSound DIY breadboarding items in action. CopperSound Pedals are a boutique effects and DIY pedal company based in Massachusetts, USA and are the brainchild of Alex Guaraldi who is the founder and lead designer.
Initially drawn to the unique appeal of CopperSound DIY products, Josh identified their immense value and decided to highlight them in his Short Circuit series - a testament to his innate desire to benefit his community.
The JHS Show videos make it incredibly simple to absorb a wealth of information, detailed insights, and a healthy dose of Josh's signature humour, (and if you haven't caught any of the JHS Show on YouTube yet, I highly recommend you do so asap!)
Simplifying the Breadboarding Process
In this first video Josh constructs a single effect on a CopperSound breadboard from scratch, explaining breadboarding's fundamental aspects in a simplified manner along the way.
From Schematic to Execution - Watch Josh in Action
Follow along as Josh creates an Electro Harmonix LPB-1 Boost (probably the most famous boost ever made in his own words) from a Jack Orman schematic. He also shares valuable tips on how to prepare and setup for breadboarding.
These are kits of various effects to build such as a Mosfet Boost, Silicon Fuzz, and Single Transistor Overdrive, and all come with all the required components and wire needed to finish the build, and a complete build guide for you to follow along with.
Alex and his team at CopperSound have developed many more DIY tools beyond the breadboards and Cir-Kits, including their innovative Substitution Boxes, which Josh also provides a short and valuable introduction to in this video.
