The Germanium Preamp is a brand new, alternative take on Benson Amps very own flagship and very famous amp-in-a-box Preamp Pedal, and it absolutely rips!

The Benson Chimera 30 watt amplifier circuit is captured within the Benson preamp pedal, and for the Germanium Preamp version the FET transistor has been swapped out for a germanium gain stage, resulting in a slightly lower gain, but richer in sound and feeling.

This new combination of the Preamp Pedal with Germanium feel will take you anywhere from a clean boost, to overdrive, and onwards to fuzz heaven!

**PLEASE NOTE This pedal is for use only with a 9vdc Boss syle center negative power supply. There is space for a battery which is activated when a cable is plugged into the input, and there is no power supply plugged into the DC jack.

Please do not subject this pedal to more than 9vdc or the pedal or power supply could be destroyed.

This pedal is based on our now famous amp-in-a-boxPreampPedal with one important tweak: the replacement of the first FET transistor with a germaniumgain stage (stolen from our servo-biasedGermaniumBoost pedal). The result is an alternate universe take on our flagship pedal that marries the incomparable feel of germaniumwith the careful equalization and tone controls of the preamp pedal.

The result is a slightly lower gain, but richer sounding and feeling overdrive/boost/fuzz/whatever we really, really dig. We hope you like it!
